Woman Stabbed and Beaten in Her Home
Wednesday night into early morning Haley Rakaska was brutally stabbed in her home with her 4 children. Hayley Rakaska was asleep and in bed with her three young children while her oldest was downstairs, when a man identified as Harley Morgan broke into the home and began stabbing her over and over again. Hayley’s oldest who is only 6 years old heard the commotion and grabbed a bat to help his mother but Morgan proceeded to take and beat Hayley with the bat. Hayley’s neighbor Stefanie Smith heard the cries for help and the screams and went over, when Morgan fled the scene and Smith rushed to Hayley’s side and tried to keep her conscious and responsive. Rakaska has over 20 stab wounds and lost a significant amount of blood and has a collapsed lung.
Harley Morgan according to court documents snuck into the basement window and made his way up the stairs and found Hayley asleep in bed with her 3 children. Morgan Then proceeded to stab her in the back and in the neck. Hayley tried to escape but he caught up and continued to stab her on the stairs. Morgan then beat Hayley with a bat which was a weapon of opportunity. Stephanie Smith heard the screaming and rushed over as Morgan was leaving. Smith called 911 and ran to Hayley’s side. Smith said she kept Hayley awake asking her about her kids and family.
Morgan was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
The hope is that justice will be served for Hayley and that she can peacefully sleep at night. Hayley is in stable but critical condition; she still has a long recovery but everyone is very hopeful. Harley Morgan's Court date has been set for Thursday and the public will know more then.
