Why is TIk Tok Actually Being Banned?

Tik Tok is one of the most popular apps in the world, with over 2 billion downloads on the app store it has quickly become one of the most active apps. Tik Tok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, but because of its foriegn roots, the U.S has been talking of banning Tik Tok. Talk of banning Tik Tok has spread like wildfire throughout the United States but not only the U.S has been thinking about banning Tik Tok.

As you all know President Trump claimed that he was banning Tik Tok but a federal judge granted a preliminary injunction against Trump’s order. Trump claims that it's a national security threat. As of now, the Trump administrators are appealing the injunction. The running theory is that Trump just wants to cut off all ties with China and that's why he is pushing so hard for Tik Tok to be banned. The President has been pushing for this to happen for several months now. Trump said that if all American companies were to buy it and run it with minimal to no input from the Chinese company he would reconsider his decision to ban the app.

The theory that President Trump's statements that it's a national security issue is all just a cover actually makes sense. Donald Trump and Xi Jinping have been at it since the beginning of summer. China even withdrew all alliances in Washington. Yes, Tik Tok is just an app and we can live without it but first Tik Tok and then what else? China contributes a lot to the U.S and we might have our differences but you just can eliminate everything that is made or run by China. What will be the next banned item? Perhaps, the water bottle you bought from Target or the t-shirt you are wearing. It all just seems too coincidental that because it made in China it’s a “security breach”. What do you think? Is President Trump hiding his true motives behind banning Tik Tok? Or is it really a national security issue?
