Tips and tricks for puppy owners

When getting a new puppy, it can be very exciting but also a little overwhelming at the same time. Puppies need a lot of care, especially depending on how young of an age you get them at. Most of the time when you are getting a new puppy, it has not been trained to walk on a leash yet so you can’t just put one on them and expect them to walk with you. You also can not get frustrated and drag the little thing because they are small and their bodies can be fragile. If you are wanting your puppy to sleep in a kennel every night, that can be scary for them if they have never slept in one before. Things like this take lots of time and patience. It is very important to make these things fun for them like leading them into the kennel with a treat and making sure you tell them good boy/ girl afterward so they don’t get scared and they start to understand what you want from them.

Potting training is one of the biggest struggles with puppies. If you are wanting an inside dog then they definitely need to be potty trained, you will also need to watch them closely the first couple weeks to make sure they don’t go in the house. One thing that is necessary during the potty training process to use dog training pads. You just sit them on the floors and they will soak up any pee that the dog puts on the floor until they are trained.

New puppies also should not be left unattended for long periods of time if they are not in their kennel. You are also going to be trying to get them used to you and the new environment . You need to spend lots of time with them. Using toys like bouncy balls and squeaky toys is a good way to keep your puppy occupied and spend time with them. This is also a great way to wear them out before they go to sleep.
