#ProjectMoonLite

Aaron Michael Finklea is a 2013 graduate from Licking Valley. Five years later in January 2018, he lost three friends in a five-day span to suicide who also graduated from Licking Valley. He didn’t know what to do because suicide had never affected him until then. He realized he needed to do something, and that something was #ProjectMoonLite.

Aaron started this project in December 2018, which was to spread suicide and mental health awareness. One of the major goals of this nonprofit organization is to prove to people they are not alone. Aaron states “Because Your Lite Matters.” Aaron wants everyone together to “shine the light on the darkness of Suicide and Mental Health.”

About a month ago was when I really started to watch Aaron Finklea on Facebook live. Every time he was on live I would get on and just listen to him talk about #ProjectMoonLite, and it made me more and more interested in it. I love the idea of spreading awareness of suicide and mental health because we never truly know what people are going through in their everyday lives.

More and More people are hearing about #ProjectMoonLite. On Sunday, October 25, Aaron and some friends went to Marne Church and were handing out free #ProjectMoonLite t-shirts. Many people came out and got themselves one because the next day at Licking Valley High School more than half the students were wearing their shirts. More than half the school brought awareness to this topic.

For the past couple of weeks, Aaron has been repeating himself about an important date on Facebook live. That important date is November 14. On November 14 at 7 pm there will be a nonprofit suicide and mental health awareness event. This event will be held at your very own Randy Baughman stadium. It is hosted by #ProjectMoonlite and Cars for a Cause, the admission will be one dollar or a donation. At this event, there will be a 100-yard dash, food, raffle, and prizes. If you don’t have any plans for that date yet I would highly recommend coming out to support #ProjectMoonLite.
