The Death of Gabriel Fernandez

In the Gabriel Trials, a true series on Netflix, an eight year old boy was abused and killed by his mother and the mother's boyfriend. They would make Gabriel (the young boy) sleep in a cabinet and feed him cat litter and make him eat his own vomit. Gabriel would come to school with bruises all over and this teacher would call his social worker and let them know. Each time she would call Gabriel would show up worse to school or not at all. The investigation showed that the social worker would only talk to the mother and boyfriend and not Gabriel, he would hide in the house somewhere. Soon after Gabriel died from the hands of his mother, and her boyfriend Aguirre at 8 years old. The cause of death was trauma and during the autopsy they discovered they burned him, beat him, shot him with a BB gun, and pepper sprayed him.

There are different abuses as in sexual, physical, verbal / emotional, and mental. Children receive these effects and disabilities around the world. Around 700,000 kids are being abused in America. In the sixteenth going into the seventeenth century children were known as their father's property just as women were their husband's property. In the eighteen hundreds it was clear child abuse was happening when the news of an eight-year-old girl named Mary Wilson was whipped and beaten in her foster home with no protection of an organization or laws to protect Kids from abuse. Parents who are abusing alcohol or drugs are three times more to neglect and abuse their children. Four to five children are killed each day from abuse, and Gabriel Fernandez was one of those children.

During the court case of Gabriel, his lawyer put his social workers on trial as they did not do their job correctly. Their job was to protect and speak to Gabriel not his mother. Their job was to check his body and ask him questions alone. The Foster Care System and Social Work is corrupted, and this trial made it very clear to everyone's eyes that it is.
