Attention over Information
Kaitlin Bennett, who is also referred to as The Kent State Gun Girl, became known after posting her college graduation photos featuring her holding guns on a college campus. Not only is that illegal, but it also caused an uproar because Kent State was the site of a former shooting in 1970. Four students were killed and nine injured by the National Guard during a protest against the bombing of Cambodia by the American Military.
Kaitlin then became a conservative journalist for Liberty Hangout. She goes around to college campuses and interviews students about questions such as; “Should there be tampons in the mens restroom?” However, she doesn’t give anyone a chance to speak and generally cuts them off. While she mostly goes to Ohio colleges, she has begun branching out to other states.
On February 17th, she went to Ohio University of Athens where she was crowded by college students and pushed out within two hours. At one point there was a crowd chanting “Where’s your diaper” referring to a photo people think is her at a party with feces running down her leg. Kaitlin said that within 30 minutes there were about 300 students surrounding her. There are clips of her stating that she is a “woman of color” which many people have argued with her about this racial claim.
After she left OU Athens, she posted on her Twitter that she would be going back to stage an open carry walk through campus. People have come back at her saying that not only is this against school rules, but it is also illegal and could result in jail time. Given that she already got pushed out of campus and is now threatening to go back but with more people and guns, I don’t think it would be smart at all for her to go back. The general consensus among generation z, republican and democrats alike, is that they don’t like Kaitlin Bennett. Her interviews are completely biased and she doesn’t give the people she’s interviewing a chance to speak.
