The Otherworld

The Otherworld is a 32,000 square foot art museum located in Columbus. This building was constructed by 40 different artists which they included secret passages, playgrounds, and 47 total rooms. For example one of the rooms is full of mirrors and it is a maze to get out of. They designed each room to resemble a fantasy land. In this museum you get to explore it freely with no tour guide, it's like a giant magical playground. The cost per person is 22$ and 18$ for kids, and the hours are from 11AM and 10PM, Thursday to Sunday.

The New York Times had made this attraction as one of the 52 places to visit this year, because it gives you the feeling as if your walking through a dream. It is an amazing experience because there is no other place like this art museum. The person who came up with this idea of making and immersive art museum was a 26 year old who graduated from Ohio State, Jordan Renda.

Renda said, “I feel like this is the perfect spot to bring something brand new like this.” Which he was right because so far thousands of people have visited the art museum. Many of the visitors of the museum love how exciting it is walking through the tripped out hallways. This is a great way to bring people to Columbus.

I asked Emme Cherubini how her experience at The Otherworld was and she replied with, “I thought that the rooms were really cool and each room had it own unique theme. My favorite room had a bunch of led lights and mirrors, so it was kind of trippy, but it was an overall fun experience.” I have not yet visited this immersive art museum but it is on my bucket list. Many people I know have gone to this museum and I have only heard good reports, and so far each person has a different favorite room.

This museum has made it on many papers including Time, New York Times, Thrillist, and Columbus Alive. The Otherworld has been a big hit for Columbus. This attraction will continue to give people an exciting new look on how art can be distributed.
