Movie Review: Tall Girl on Netflix

The Movie, Tall Girl is about this abnormally tall girl named Jodi in highschool who is ashamed of her height. She’s always been taller than everyone including the guys and she even has to wear a guys size 13 Nike shoes. Her life has always been more difficult for her because she always was made fun of and no one liked her because of her height. She had two best friends, one girl and one guy. The girl named Fareeda was spunky, outgoing, and confident about herself. Also, a guy named Jack was so in love with Jodi ever since they were kids, but Jodi never saw Jack in that type of way and that never stopped him from trying to flirt with her.

Jodi has an older sister named Harper, she's in pageants and is beautiful. Jodi dislikes talking to Harper because everything is always about Harper and Jodi was super jealous of her looks. At school and everywhere Jodi goes she gets stared at and people ask her dumb remarks according to her height and that just keeps lowering her confidence. Jodi also has had no interest in any guys because they’re all taller than her and she hates that. Until this one day during school, this new foreign exchange student came from Germany. Jodi took her first glance and she was love struck. His name was Stig, he had long blonde hair, blue eyes, and he was taller than her. Unfortunately all the “popular” girls were all over him so to Jodi she knew he’d never like her.

Jodi ends up going to her older sister for guy advice and Jodi gets a new wardrobe and new makeup to get Stig to notice her. Her sister was beyond excited that her little sister finally came to her for help and that brought their bond closer together. Stig finally realizes Jodi and more details happen from then. And then the end comes with a big shock to it and it ends with Jodi being confident about her height.

Personally, I loved this movie. It projected a good message to people that may not love their body and for them to embrace it and not be ashamed. I also think it has good suspense and a good plot to make the person watching want to keep watching. I think the movie would be enjoyed by anyone in the age from middle school to high school because that seems to be when most people tend to get confidence issues. I would definitely recommend this movie.
