Senior Spotlight: Nick Collins
Nick Collins is not a typical high schooler, that is for sure. Instead of running with the popular crowds, he sticks to his friends. Boasting a semi-cynical confidence, he carries himself throughout the halls every day with sarcasm nipping at his heels. However, in that confidence and sarcasm lies wisdom that goes unheard by most, to which, Nick does not care if you get it or not.
Carrying around his phone all day, killing his ears more and more with the constant strain of metal music, scrolling through Reddit to point out people who are wrong while providing excellent evidence as to why.
Always willing to talk video games and other nerdy things, he sticks to what he knows but won’t be afraid to dip his feet into other pools. I, for one, had managed to get him into quite a few items in the gaming community as long as I listen to his taste of music (at a lower volume, of course).
Nick had been my friend for quite some time, so I observed him from afar and up close. He’s not like other Ohioans I’ve seen, instead, leaning way to the left of independence. He is the type to not sit still, let people walk all over him, still his tongue and let people get away with what they’re doing.
His journey ahead leads to college life in OUZ for communications, hopefully, a career in journalism lies ahead of him.
All Nick says to the freshmen is to listen, pay attention, take older generations seriously, and take their wisdom seriously.
