Spring Break Destinations, Newark OH Edition
Spring break is the light at the end of the tunnel. The days left of school will be few to none, (34 days to be exact for seniors like me). Finally, there is time off to spend it with friends, family, and most importantly yourself. Spring break is the break to give yourself after all the hours of schooling and working every chance you can get. I don’t know about you, but at this point in the 2nd semester I am feeling completely burnt out and unmotivated. It seems as if I am sleeping whenever I have free time because I am so utterly exhausted. Now, you’re probably thinking, “why is she writing about what to do on spring break when we live in the most boring place in the world?” Well, I do know that, and trust me I am on the same journey as you. Trying to figure out what is fun AND cheap around here. Newark, OH is not going to hand you your fun adventures, you have to look for them and trust it’ll be fun.
After doing some research, I found some places where your adventuring can begin. Now, most of them require at least a thirty minute drive. Like I said at the beginning of this article, you have to search for your fun and memorable trip(s). Also, some of these trips have a price tag, but it’ll all be worth it.
Places worth the money
Cosi- Columbus
Cedar Point- Sandusky
Kings Island- Mason
Kalahari- Sandusky
Columbus Museum of Art- Columbus
Zoo- Columbus
Lake Erie- (I figured this was pretty self-explanatory on its whereabouts, but it’s near the Sandusky area or Erie)
Places not breaking the bank
Hocking Hills- Hocking
Rising Park- Lancaster
Dawes Arboretum- Newark
Lynd Fruit Farms- Pataskala
These are well known places around the Newark area that have been used as fun trips to go on. The drives are what make the trips fun too. Music blaring from the speakers of your car, and a couple of friends. It’s all you really need to make your 2019 spring break the most memorable. Currently, the weather outside for March right now isn’t the warmest. We are still getting snow, rain, and all the elements of making a cold place to live and it makes having fun seem hard. All you need to do to have fun this spring break is to take the time to find it. Columbus has a lot of cool places to visit, Cosi is a hands on science center. Cosi is the place to spend your day if you love science, or just exploring new ideas. Amusement parks are another place where fun is guaranteed! Yes, it does cost a little bit of money but the memories made with who you go with are forever indented in your heart. Cedar Point is beside the Cedar Point beach, so if you wanted to you can always try and walk by the water on your day up there. What you have to remember is Ohio is NOT Florida.
Now, what is so fun about the places that won’t break the bank is the adventures behind them. Hocking Hills is the place to go when wanting to explore the wilderness. Hocking Hills, Dawes Arboretum, Rising Park, and Lynd Fruit Farms are cool and pretty places to venture. When adventuring with your friends be sure to take lots of pictures. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and they are going to document your fantastic spring break.
Be sure to make your spring break the most memorable. Especially seniors, this is the last high school spring break you will have. Go have fun and make this time the best of your life. You want to make this spring break the one you talk about for years.
