Review: The Haunting of Hill house received a 93% positive rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Some reviews even consist of effects after watching the show, like passing out, vomiting, and nightmares. This coming from the fact that the show creates a suspension that may be too overwhelming for some audiences, as the show is intended to scare you and to allow you to understand each of the siblings stories as a whole. This series shows viewers how coming together to overcome obstacles is the best way to succeed and that not everything turns out the way it may seem in your mind. All 10 episodes of this series come full circle to the theme of “freedom but yet confinement”. The theme meaning that the family has moved on (freedom) but still has ties back to the house that complicate situations their whole life (confinement).
Each episode comes with new twists and turns that you would not expect, concerning the lives of the siblings and father, like when Nelly (the youngest daughter) finds out who the real “Bent Neck Lady” is. Throughout the movie the plot of the Massachusetts’ Hill house shows viewers that the ties between the house and all of the previous families who have lived there threaten the possibility of a successful future for each individual still alive. Writers are unaware as to if there will be a season 2, but viewers will be satisfied with season 1 and more than ready for a season 2 if the opportunity arises.
