Nightmare Burger

In the spirit of Halloween, Burger King recently began marketing a burger known as the Nightmare King. The monstrous burger comes on an alarmingly green bun, but even more alarming is the apparent ability for this particular burger to give the consumer nightmares.

With appropriately terrifying advertising, the franchise has managed to convince the public that the meal can, in fact, give you scary dreams. An article titled The Scariest Part of Burger King’s “Nightmare King” isn’t what you think lays out the alleged experimentation that took place and why some may have experienced creepy dreams after eating the meal.

According to the article, and the commercial, the test subjects did in fact experience scientifically disturbed sleep cycles. Some speculate that this could be due to uneasiness that the green bun initially induces or a placebo effect caused by the “results” and advertising as a whole. Still, others hypothesize that the increased amount of protein found in the burger affects the body's natural sleep cycle.

Companies, fast food or otherwise, are notorious for using novel techniques to sell their products. Especially around holidays, it is quite common for these marketing techniques to pop up on televisions and billboards (think shamrock shake, pumpkin spice lattes, peppermint mocha, etc.). The “Nightmare King” is the Burger King franchises’ attempt to lure in customers into buying this strange novelty burger in lue of the spooky Halloween season. So will it actually give you nightmares? I guess you’ll just have to try it and find out.

Happy Halloween!Mwahahaha.
