Life on Mars
The one dying question...is Mars habitable ?
The research of life on Mars and the interest is fluctuated since the olden days, when big hit song “Life on Mars” by David Bowie came out and the big headed green lanky monsters were all the rage but time has changed and now we are considering is there life on Mars and is there a high oxygen production if any. Salt water has been discovered under Mars surface with further research we are looking to see if there's enough salt water that would produce oxygen for microbial life, and if so how we could expand that into human life. The interest in this old but now new study spiked when NASA'S rover discovered a chemical combination that resembled oxygen.
The Red Planet
Depending on the region, season and time of day, temperatures on the red planet can vary between minus 195 and 20 degrees Celsius . The researchers first devised a model to describe how oxygen dissolves in salty water at temperatures below freezing. A second model estimated climate changes on Mars over the last 20 million years, and over the next 10 million years. Taken together, the calculations showed which regions on the planet that are most likely to produce brine-based oxygen which is tiny air pockets on Mars that contain oxygen, data that could help determine the placement of future probes.
Could we survive on Mars?
Although there are studies of small micro living on Mars and very small amounts of oxygen they haven't found a way to extend the “air space”. Though i personally believe we have or will have the technology to expand that air space so we could have a human test subject attempt to live on mars. Living on mars would conclude of a few things, a lot of habits and things you feel like you need on earth you would have to go without on Mars. Life on Mars wouldn't be quick and easy the first thing is it will take some time to get there, it would take approximately 300 days to get to mars from earth. Buzzfeed has created a seventeen things you need to know before going to Mars list and one of the things on the list is the concern with gravity buzzfeed writer keely oaks says “ Gravity on Mars is just a third of what it is on Earth. Your bone and muscle would deteriorate and after a while your body wouldn't be able to cope with normal Earth conditions anymore.
It's the same reason astronauts struggle for a while when they come back from six months in low Earth orbit”, so with saying that sending someone to live on Mars can be quite a large risk. The atmosphere, Mars atmosphere is very thin with the majority of it being made up of carbon dioxide and only a trace of that being oxygen life on Mars might not happen in our time or ever but do you believe we will get there one day and if so, what will earth become?
