Do you think we should add two years to high school or keep the four we have?
Some people think four years of high school is enough and that if they did add two years to the four we already have that the students would be mad and/or upset. Other people think that would be to add an additional two years because it could get them personally more ready for college and that would make them very happy! All in all young adults think that the four years of high school they have now is plenty of time to either prepare for college or to figure out what you want to do until you get out of high school. Taking or giving a few years would be pointless you wouldn't be getting enough and adding you would be getting too much.
The New York Times article states that they “followed around 3 teenage American students that had the chance to attend high school with a high graduation rate and they still didn’t want to attend, they think it’s not because how long school last but how ‘challenging and relevant’ school is on a daily basis.” From personal experience i know that a lot of kids got put in classes that they don’t enjoy and/or got bored and want taken out of it, so making kids have longer years in high school would make them upset because there’s classes you do have to repeat whether you want to or not.
People in high school also think that they’re already forced into classes they have no interest for, so they think, “why add more to the years they have if they already have no interest?” An article in New York Times also say that, “kids education is more important than having breaks.” Advocates have been saying they should add time to school since 1983.
Do you think we should have 3, 4 or 5 years how high school..why? And do you think your answer would have prepared you enough for college?
Do you think the high school dropout increase if we added two years? Or would the two years prepare you for college?
What length of highschool would positively make graduation rates go up.. Why?
