YouTube Restrictions TOO STRICT!?!?

Ever since we’ve had Chromebooks, there have always been restrictions on them: Google, YouTube, certain websites, etc. But YouTube restrictions have been there since late 2014, and it seems like they interfere with school work sometimes (this has been fixed but by giving access to unblock videos by teachers only). But the problem is still here.

Let's say you try and watch a video once all of your work is done...you can't do. You’ll have to use your phone and suck up data. There seem to be no other ways to access YouTube without restrictions. If an exploit is found, the school administrators shortly find a way to block the exploit. This is based on my experience (and trust me its the same cycle).

Lastly, The YouTube restrictions seem to be finding comments on the videos that may be inappropriate and cause the video to be restricted. So no matter the video, whether it be a Blues Clues video, or science documentary, if someone makes inappropriate comments, the video will be restricted. Also, I’ve been seeing patterns where the restrictions will be gone for a couple weeks then the restrictions will be back and seem harsher. In a public school like this, where kids talk behind teachers backs while using curse words, it seems like YouTube restrictions wouldn’t fit here.

********Update March 11th, 2018**********

This article is now pointless because the LV just now unrestricted YouTube. All videos are now viewable… Rejoyce!!!

But really though, This is a major change to all the overachievers who get their work done before everyone else. I’m happy to see this because when I'm in study hall I have something to do now without using my phone.
