Waterparks
The band Waterparks released their latest album Entertainment on January 26th, 2018, and it’s amazing! Waterparks always has a cool and unique sound with their music, such as chopping up the vocals of a verse. The album was released worldwide and is available on iTunes and Spotify.
The album is an emotional spiral and with each song sparking it sparks a new feeling. The album is relatable for all young adult audiences and could be enjoyed by all ages. Lyrically it seems to be raw and genuine to the band.
An example is the song peach (Lobotomy). It’s about long distance relationships, his specifically. This is shown through multiple lyrics, such as, “You're why I keep my Texas sleep hours on tour Instead of sleeping around like bum bum.”
Also, ‘Tantrum’ seems to be aimed at everyone who screwed the lead singer, Awsten, over. This is shown when Awsten starts to drop names in his lyrics, saying, “ To a certain married mister, that tried to move on my missus (Cam), try to come around again, you'll catch some swings and no misses.”
Lastly, their hit song ‘Blonde’ seems to be about the double edged sword of being famous. It seems like he’s happy that they are where they are, but he also misses being a “normal” human. This is shown through the lyrics, “I go blue when I've had a break at home to breathe, I used to crave a getaway, now I don't wanna leave.”
Entertainment is a must-listen-to for anyone. There are so many different sounds and so many experiences put into the lyrics. It’s the type of album where anyone can find at least one song they like.
