Violent Games Create Entertainment, Not Massacres
People like video games, right? They’re fun, entertaining, and give kids something to do. They are meant for fun, and fun only. They don't cause massacres or shootings, they just entertain.
According to The Independent Tech, President Trump disagrees with this statement and says "I’m hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people’s thoughts… You see these movies, and they’re so violent. And yet a kid is able to see the movie if sex isn’t involved, but killing is involved, and maybe they have to put a rating system for that."
Trump saying video games can “shape young people’s thoughts,” meaning that if I play a shooting game, it will give me the urge to shoot guns and kill people. This is not correct, in fact, an article by the American Psychological Association (APA) says otherwise.
These kind of topics are getting a lot of attention lately due to all of the school shootings, killings, shootings, etc. and many people are blaming the violence people caused on what they've been watching or playing. In fact,
, the crime rate is down by roughly 60%. This may or may not be linked to the fact that more and more people are seeing movies and playing video games (but then again it could be a coincidence).
In conclusion, video games have one soul purpose, to entertain. You’d have to be very optimistic to say these games cause shootings and these disastrous massacres.
