Net Neutrality Repeal and You
The FCC recently repealed net neutrality. This is not good news for average consumers because now internet service providers can legally slow internet connection or outright block access to certain sites.
After its repeal, the FCC’s proposal needs to be sent to the Supreme Court to see if it is even constitutional. According to Senator Richard Blumenthal and activist Gene Kimelman, net neutrality’s repeal violates the First Amendment’s protections of free speech.
This matters for all Valley students because chromebooks need the internet to work to their fullest. Without net neutrality, there could be paywalls to access genres of sites and throttling to individual sites.
