Donald Trump has no moral ground to talk religion
Our current president, Mr. Donald Trump, fancies himself quite the Christian. In fact, he was able to grasp 81% of the white Evangelical vote. But is Mr. Trump the living embodiment of what it is like to be a godly person? Does Mr. Trump possess any moral standing to talk about religious issues? Mr. Trump has frequently spoken about religion and issues for which religion plays a major role in, he praises the Bible, Christianity, and God. While Mr. Trump is allowed to believe in and practice whatever religion he believes in, he is a hypocrite for praising the Bible and its teachings the way he does, and has no moral standing to praise such dogmatic and divisive ideas.
One example of Trump’s blatant hypocrisy is that he praises the Bible and its teachings, yet he ignored one of the largest rules in the Bible twice. Trump divorced his first wife, Ivana, and later divorced his second wife, Marla. According to the Bible, specifically Luke 16:18, Mr. Trump is an adulterer for remarrying after he divorced Ivana. This example is one of the many that point out Mr. Trump’s hypocrisy when it comes to religious issues.
Another example of Mr. Trump being a hypocrite is when he was caught on the access Hollywood mic, boasting about sexually assaulting women. Mr. Trump fancies himself quite the Christian, and therefore fancies himself a moral person. Someone needs to explain to Mr. Trump that sexual assault, the criminal act that over 20 women are accusing him of, is highly immoral.
Donald Trump is a person who leaned on the Evangelical vote to gain office. He will do their bidding if they want him to. He has tried to scrap laws and protections for members of the LGBT community, make it more difficult for women to get abortions, or even prevent members of other religions from exercising equal rights-like his attempted travel ban on Muslims.
Mr. Trump is allowed to believe in whatever religious teachings he wishes to, but he lost the right to preach such dogmatic ideas as soon as he divorced two of his three wives, had an affair, and boasted about sexually assaulting women. He sacrificed his right to speak on such issues, and therefore has no place to talk about them.
