Second Round of California Fires
On December 4th, wildfires in Ventura county California started to pop up. These fires spread due to 60 mph winds.
These fires are the second round of wildfires in two months. The fires began only eight weeks after the first round of fires in Northern California says ABC News. These fires caused many people to evacuate their homes. ABC reports, authorities urged 150,000 people to leave their homes before it was too late.
The fires spread 80 square miles in a matter of hours. The fire is the largest wildfire the state has ever encountered, covering 150,000 acres according to The Washington Post. The Post also says that the fires burned down around 500 structures and caused at least one casualty so far.
These wildfires are out of control and have taken over a huge part of California. The number of people that have had to leave their homes because of the fires is tragic.
