Ohio State Bucked from Playoff
Sunday, December 3, was selection day for the College Football Playoff. Countless fans reacted when Ohio State University didn’t make it into the playoffs. People blamed the voters and said it was rigged, but let's figure out the real reason.
Ohio State University was ranked 5th after the selection day and people had mixed reactions about the ranking. The committee chairman Kirby Hocutt said, “The committee just favored Alabama's full body of work over Ohio State".
Kirk Herbstreit had a completely different reaction to Ohio State not making by walking off stage. It was during a podcast that was covering the Playoff selections when Ohio State didn’t make it Kirk put his headset down and stormed off stage. Some of the other reporters with him at the time posted what happened on twitter.
One of Ohio State's biggest reason for not making it into the playoffs this year was losing to Iowa by 31 points. Keep in mind Ohio State was ranked, Iowa was not, and according to Kirby Hocutt, “Only the four best teams get pick not the four most deserving”.
Ohio State also lost two games this season when Alabama only lost one this season. Even if they were to overlook the blowout loss to Iowa, Ohio State still lost one more games than Alabama.
Ohio State University didn’t make it into the playoffs because of a crushing loss to Iowa and the second loss to Oklahoma. Alabama only had one loss and was ranked higher than Ohio State almo
st the whole season. If the roles were reversed and Ohio State did make the playoffs, Alabama fans would be saying the same thing right now.
