The 19th Hole

Both Licking Valley boys and girls golf teams made a vast jump in the right direction this year. The LV golf teams look to improve in the next few years with exceptional talent coming from the underclass and veteran leadership.

The girl’s golf team started off the year with a brand new coach, Kristie Conley. The girls had a very nice season by finishing 4th in their section after being placed 16th out of 18th . Conley believes “The team this year overall got better and many players have improved.“ Conley also fondly looked back on Ashlyn Croak’s hole-in-one as one of the year’s best moments.” The team finished well overall and Coach Conley was happy to see everyone improve as much as they did this season and hoping to see improvement in the future as well.

The Boy’s golf team is coached by Scott Fisher. Fisher believes they had a fantastic year also ,saying “The LV Boys Golf team had a very successful year. ...all seven golfers gave a tremendous amount of effort and improved throughout the season.” Standing out to Fisher was Griffen Hayden. Fisher said “Griffin Hayden is as gritty of a competitor as there is. He has a tremendous work ethic and I was so proud all his effort paid off with Team MVP and 2nd team All-LCL honors. The boys team feels they had a great season and are looking forward to next year with a very talented underclass.

Both teams made great strides in their own way. Each team is losing talented seniors, but are also gaining great underclassmen talent and experienced seniors. Each player brings tremendous amount of effort and has great work ethic according to both coaches. The Licking Valley golf teams are on track to have great 2018 season and much more to come.
