Time to Change
Most high school students get up for school around six o'clock in the morning. Some kids get up even earlier than that so they are ready when the school bus comes. Not only should the start time for school Licking Valley Schools change because the students would like to sleep in, but it should change because it benefits the students well- being and health too.
If you are a morning person, good for you. Not a lot of people that are morning people. Most people dread when their alarm clock goes off at six a.m, or whenever it is that it goes off. Most teens, due to going to bed around 11 p.m., are only getting about six to seven hours of sleep. Them having to get up around six for school is waking them up when they are in a deep sleep. Most teens need about nine hours of sleep at night and they don’t get that because of the school time being so early. Also, due to the start time of school being so early, it is dark when some people leave for school or when they are out
waiting for the bus; this increases the risk of drowsy drivers on the road.
One district in Ohio that has already changed its start time is Northridge, a small school in Johnstown. The Newark Advocate says that the school thinks this will have great benefits for the school district. Youngstown schools also changed their start times. The school administration in Youngstown says that changing the school time gives students a better chance to get more sleep at night and be ready to start the school day in the morning. These are just two of many Ohio schools that have changed their start times. Changing the school time wouldn’t only make the kids happy, but it would benefit their health. Changing the start time allows kids to get more sleep to perform better in school. The school time changing is the best idea for everyone students and teachers.
