NBA Rookie of the Year

Jayson Tatum, De’Aaron Fox, and Markelle Fultz are great talents drafted out of the 2017 NBA Draft and only one can be named Rookie of the Year by an elite group of NBA writers this upcoming season. I will show why each of these players could be Rookie of the Year.

Jayson Tatum was drafted third overall to the Boston Celtics. Tatum has one of the most NBA re

ady bodies weighing in at 205 lbs, and at 6’8, he was one of the tallest forwards in the draft. The Celtics will need Tatum to contribute immediately due to the fact they traded Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder for Kyrie Irving. Jae Crowder was the Celtics was starting small forward last year with the trade will leave the spot up for grabs between Tatum and Jaylen Brown both young and still growing players. Even if Tatum doesn’t start, he will still have a great chance at Rookie of the Year because of his ability to shoot and rebound at a high level. Tatum still has many flaws he needs to fix to have a spot in the NBA, such as playmaking Even at the small forward position, his passing ability is still an important part of the game. One more flaw with Tatum is that he falls in love with his jump shot and will force bad shots and play an isolation game.

De’Aaron Fox was drafted fifth overall by the Sacramento Kings. Fox is pretty small for any position in the NBA. At just 6’3 and 175 lbs, Fox is pretty much a stick. Fox loves to push the ball in transition and even if Fox is small, he can find many ways to finish at the rim. Fox also could be a great defender with his speed and ability to get into the passing lanes but lacks the size to defend bigger guards. Fox does lack a good jump shot and needs to become more consistent with it to compete at a high level. Again Fox must put on size to be able to play with the bigger guards in the league.

My last rookie that I think has a chance of winning it is Markelle Fultz.Fultz was drafted first overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. Fultz is the most NBA ready scorer this year with his ability to create shots and to score tough Baskets. Fultz plays similar to Russell Westbrook, using his speed to get into passing lanes and to finish strong in the lane. Fultz may have great assist numbers if the 76ers team can stay healthy with all the young talent and his great passing ability.

that need to be fix like his free throw percentage. Fultz only shoots about 70% from the line and this must improve if he wants to be a star in the upcoming years. Fultz also gets tunnel vision and will force shots or a bad pass.

All of the rookies that I have talked about having a great chance at winning Rookie of the Year, but only one can. The rookies are Jayson Tatum, De’Aaron Fox, Markelle Fultz and I believe the Rookie of the Year will be Jayson Tatum. Jayson Tatum will win Rookie of the Year because he has the most NBA ready body and with his skill set he will be the best rookie. Who do you believe will win the NBA Rookie of the Year?
