Ca$h Sports
There are currently twenty-six sports at Licking Valley High School. With all of this chaos, someone has to maintain their calendars, tournaments and games, and any situations that need solved. Most importantly, someone needs to maintain the expenses and budget of all these sports. That someone is our very own Athletic Director, Mark McCullough.
With the twenty-six sports some source has to produce the money needed for all the equipment and transportation. Mark McCullough said, “ Football by far brings in the most revenue because more people attend the events.” His budget relies mostly on football to bring in the money. Only three of the twenty-six sports bring in money to cover their costs. Football covers it costs because it brings in the most, “ Boys basketball generally covers costs, volleyball and girls basketball goes back and forth from year to year depending on how good the team is” McCullough said.
Sports that don’t bring in that much money seriously rely on other sports to cover their costs. Golf is the most costly because there are less players and every event costs money. Wrestling is not far behind due to the tournaments and the fact that they compete in high competition.
Currently Licking Valley Athletics are stable and everything is working smoothly. The athletic boosters helps support the athletic department by buying the uniforms for the athletes and any extra things they need. The athletic boosters fund the big ticket items which helps the athletic department tremendously. The athletic department does not do fundraisers it solely depends on just people paying to get into games.
